THE TILTING TRANSOMS OF THE EXCESS 13, AN INNOVATION BASED ON YOUR FEEDBACK

At Excess, the evolution of our catamarans is based on feedback from sailors. One of the identified areas for improvement was access to the transom.

To address this issue, we launched a survey through the Excess Lab, and the solution chosen by the majority was the integration of tilting transoms.

Numa Léger, production engineer on the Excess 13, explains:
“With tilting transoms, we increase the access area to the sea without increasing the length of the boat. Furthermore, once the transoms are closed, it gives us a sense of security and enclosure in the cockpit.”

In this new video, follow Numa in the heart of our shipyard and discover in detail the manufacturing of the transoms for our new catamaran.

The Excess 13, equipped with this new configuration, will have its world premiere at the International Multihulls Boat Show 2025 in La Grande Motte.

Congratulations on a very good looking design. Will the folding transoms be strong enough to hold the weight of a scuba diver though ?? Or a sailor holding a heavy outboard motor ?? And will the ladder also be strong enough to climb while wearing full scuba gear ?? We do want to specify the folding transoms on our Excess 13 but we need to know they are robust enough. We look forward to seeing you at La Grande Motte.
