Community Contribution - Why not offer a long term charter option for new boats coming out of the yard?
Lead times are too long (and expensive) to order a new boat (especially since the abolition of the VAT advantage with a leasing/LOA scheme) and finding a second hand boat is a headache (with inevitable risks associated with the age and condition of a boat).... not to mention the uncertainty of any resale.
So why not offer a long-term charter formula for new boats coming out of the yard?

The subject is interesting and so is the proposal of a long-term rental solution!
To date, we do not offer this solution as a Shipyard. Some of our dealers do, for example SAIL TAHITI (https://www.sailtahiti.com/location-bateau-longue-duree/). Several companies specialised in chartering, charter companies, also offer other formulas.
But it is true that this is not directly marketed by our yard and the Excess brand.
The nautical business model is evolving rapidly and we are seeing a growth in 'use', alongside ownership. This is particularly relevant for catamarans. We are working in particular with the company SAIL TIME in the USA (https://sailtime.com/annapolis/fleet/) which recently integrated an EXCESS 11 into its shared ownership fleet.
We continue to support the development of these new forms of use, particularly through our distribution network, which markets our boats
