DISCOVER THE FIRST 3D IMAGE OF THE EXCESS 13!

DISCOVER THE FIRST 3D IMAGE OF THE EXCESS 13!

We’re delighted to unveil the latest model in the Excess range, positioned between the Excess 11 and Excess 14. This new catamaran embodies the brand’s bold, innovative spirit, with the design having incorporated an in-depth look at life on board, life under way, and life around the boat.

We’ve taken into account the feedback from our many Excess Lab contributors to imagine a catamaran that is as close as possible to the needs and desires of Excess sailors.

A bold, innovative and collaborative design

For this new model, the Excess team called on the Lombard team (MLYDG) for naval architecture, in collaboration with Jean Marc Piaton for interior design. The Excess 13 aims to offer an optimal sailing experience, with “lightness” as the key word for this project.

The emphasis is on performance, comfort and style, with an interior bathed in natural light, a functional galley, and a layout optimized to maximize living space and storage.

This first 3D image of our Excess 13, for example, reveals the sugarscoops, an innovation designed by the Excess team using feedback from Lab contributors. A truly collaborative effort!

Renowned architects at the helm

Eric Levet and his team have created an evolutionary and balanced catamaran, ready to cross the oceans while offering incomparable sailing sensations. The living spaces have been designed to offer optimum comfort, whether underway or at anchor.

A rethought internal design

Jean-Marc Piaton has added an extra touch of elegance and lightness, ensuring that each space is both practical and pleasant to live in, and illustrates the character of the brand. Natural light floods the interior, and the galley, accessible from both cockpit and saloon, creates a harmonious link between interior and exterior spaces.

I just learned that the guest cabins will have two separate heads but a joint shower. Well done, another great design choice to keep everything simple. I like it, less is more!

Dear Excess Team, will you be offering to fit the engines with Integrels?
I think that Integrels and solar panels on roof and davits in combination with a large battery bank would render a generator obsolete, even for high electrical power demands on board.

Dear Excess Team, thank you for your great efforts on this new model, here’s my initial feedback.
From what I can see in the video you really implemented a lot of great design choices and improvements, refining the Excess DNA even further. The simple, functional, light, clean, and minimalist design approach seems to work very well. It also leaves the space for owners to customise their interior design e.g. in the owner’s hull, which I really appreciate.
The utilisation of space in the salon seems perfect, and thank you for including a forward facing nav station / work desk, well done.
The cockpit seems well organised for sailing. I’m curious about the gap between the seating area and the galley. Visually I like it, will be interesting to get more comments on this design feature.
For the non-owners hull I’m hoping for two cabins with just one single, shared head & shower and the option to select the forward cabin as "transformer" cabin with two fold down bunk beds like on the Excess 14.
Also thank you for including the fold-up transom feedback from the Excess Lab, a composite bowsprit and for keeping the deck stepped mast and low boom.
I’m pretty sure that the Marc Lombard design office made sure that the sail plan, hull design, helm feel, stiffness and balance of the boat will be fantastic! Really can’t wait to go sailing it.
It would be great if you could already share some basic dimensional data.
Thank you Excess Team, really well done!
